 Awareness raising - workshops

Would you like to approach the subject of ‘street children’ at your school? Or would you like to be visited by a real mobile school- just like the ones street children work with all over the world? It’s possible!

We have a wide variety of workshops to offer for primary and secondary schools. Lectures at Institutes for higher or advanced education, universities are possible as well. Below you will find an overview of the different workshops we offer to schools.

Are you interested in our activities? Then download the registration form here and appoint three possible dates on which you would like to request one of our workshops. We will contact you asap for a possible confirmation of one the dates. In case you have specific questions, please do not hesitate to contact us through our contact details or through info@mobileschool.org

Cost price:

There are two possibilities to pay the cost price of the workshops we come and give at your schools.

  • Fund-raising activity: Let your pupils or students themselves set up a fund-raising activity to contribute to the well-being of underprivileged children with fewer opportunities than themselves.
In this case, your school organizes a fund-raising event to pay the fee. Each school can choose their fund-raisers themselves. Examples from the past are: walking tours, go-cart races, reading activities, lecture marathons, shoe shining activities, selling self-made products, jumble sales and other sponsored actions, … When you press the ‘events’ button you can see photos of events in the past.
This is the most interesting option for the organization. Fund-raising events of schools represent the largest part of the funds that are necessary to manufacture a new mobile school. It is also very stimulating for children to contribute themselves to the production of a mobile school.
  • Fixed fee: You pay a fixed fee to cover the costs of the workshop. For the price, please refer to each workshop separately.

Variety of workshops:

Here, you can find informative workshops as well as games to familiarise oneself with the reality of street children, a documentary or quiz. Normally they are requested in combination with the general workshop: ‘School on wheels’. This implies a demonstration of a mobile school in which participants can take a closer look at the school and try it out themselves.

Sympathising game: Mara Casa

General description
Mara Casa is a game in which youngsters will live - without being really conscious of the fact that they are doing this – two different lives, which are far apart from each other, which is in fact also the case for street children. Then they will be asked to integrate into another country and society without external help. They will realise that it is not easy to change from one culture to the other one. On the other hand, they will realise that people in industrialised countries (like us), who are used to a house with a nice warm bed, bath and television… will not be capable to adapt to a life on the streets easily. This workshop is usually done in combination with the general mobile school workshop, which means that the total duration will be about 1.5 hours.
