Who we are
Mobile School NPO is a Belgian organisation dedicated to empowering autonomous organisations working with street-connected children throughout the world. We develop mobile school carts and educational materials and train local street workers to increase the efficiency of the outreach work done on the streets. The main objective of the mobile school methodology is to discover and unlock the talents of street-connected children so they can regain a positive self-image and can start to make conscious decisions about their own future. Presently there are 52 mobile schools in 26 countries, spread across four continents: Latin America, Asia, Africa and Europe.
The mobile school is an extendable blackboard on wheels that comes with more than 300 educational panels ranging from literacy to street business, to health and hygiene. The educational panels can be easily attached on the mobile blackboard with plastic screws before being taken to the streets for non-formal and educational sessions. Once the mobile school arrives in an area where street children work or live, the school slides open to a two-sided 6-meter-long educational blackboard space which allows street educators to interact creatively with street youth.
How we work
Mobile School partners with autonomous partner organisations worldwide. Every organisation working with children living or working on the streets, children on the move or children hanging around on the street that is looking for educational materials and training to strengthen their work on the streets can contact us to apply for a mobile school. The Mobile School partnership flow consists of the following six phases.
