Mobile School offers to students interactive and informative workshops and games. Thus we support schoolchildren in their development into potential change-makers, and make it possible for them to work on a sustainable future for themselves, society and the planet.

Workshops for primary education
  • School on wheels - small groups

Workshops for primary education

In this workshop, a Mobile School educator will give a presentation on street children. Photos and stories are used to familiarise students with the issue of street children. The educator will demonstrate to the students a real mobile school, explain how it works and the important role it plays.

Target group: 1st, 2nd and 3rd year primary education
Duration: 50 minutes (maximum 6 workshops per day)
Maximum 30 students

  • School on wheels - large group

In this workshop, a Mobile School educator gives a Power Point presentation on street children. Photos and stories are used to familiarise students with the issue of street children, and the functioning and impact of Mobile School. After a general explanation, students are given the opportunity to experiment in small groups with a real mobile school.

Target group: 2nd and 3rd year primary education
Duration: depending on the number of students

  • Memorable Bandana Game

Bandana Game

Via an active memory game, students become familiar with 12 photos of street children and their associated stories. A large screen contains a world map, 12 photos of street life, a street with typical objects and memory cards. By searching for matching cards, students are given the opportunity to capture each other's bandanas. Street reality and the role of the mobile school are treated in greater depth in a discussion that follows.

  • Pecas in Cyberstreet

Pecas in Cyberstreet is a computer game around the theme of the rights of the child. Together with street child Pecas, students playfully discover the rights that exist and what life is like on the streets. The player is challenged to a game by clicking on objects. At the end of the game, the mobile school provides more explanation on one of the rights.

  • Photo stories quest

The life stories of ten street children are told using ten photos. The students use a questionnaire to determine which story belongs to which street child. Thus, students in a playful way get to know street culture: learning to survive, drugs, gangs, the talents of street children, friendship…

Workshops for secondary education

Via a Power Point presentation, a Mobile School colleague presents to the class the lifeworld of street children. Photos and stories are used to familiarise students with the issue of street children. A real mobile school is also brought, which allows students to discover how it is used on the street and the important role it plays.

Target group: 1st, 2nd and 3rd year secondary education
Duration: 50 minutes (maximum 6 workshops per day)
Maximum 30 students

  • School on wheels - large groups

An extensive workshop on the way in which street children live and survive on the street every day. Photos and stories familiarise students with the complex issue of street children. The functioning and impact of the mobile school is treated extensively. After the presentation, students are given the opportunity to experiment in small groups with a real mobile school.

Target group: 1st, 2nd and 3rd year secondary education + higher education
Duration: maximum 100 minutes (maximum 3 workshops per day)
Maximum 150 students

  • Assertions + school on wheels

An interactive workshop in which students are able to take a position concerning assertions made on the issue of street children. The discussion is led by a Mobile School colleague. Students are given a multilateral approach to the lifeworld of street children, always with respect for each other's opinion. During a presentation, the functioning and the impact of the mobile school is studied further in depth.

A report by production company Woestijnvis in which Arnoud's dream is given form: the launch of the first two mobile schools in Guatemala and Bolivia.

  • Streets of Nairobi DVD

A short documentary the shows the mobile school in action in the streets of Nairobi (Kenya). Colleagues talk about the world of the street child. Based on their testimonials, the goal of Mobile School becomes clear: increasing the street child's self-respect.
