OUR PARTNER
Fundación Sociedad San José is a long-standing organisation in Bolivia, with more than 140 years of experience working with children and young people in vulnerable situations. Based in La Paz, the organisation focuses on integral development through education, health, community engagement, and economic empowerment.
Its work is structured around three main pillars: integral development, productive and entrepreneurial support, and community development. Through two main centres and several community points, the organisation provides a wide range of services to children, adolescents, and their families, creating supportive environments for growth and development.
The organisation’s strong presence in local communities and its long-term commitment make it a key actor in supporting children in vulnerable contexts across the region.

THE TARGET GROUP
The FlagBag is used to reach children, adolescents, and young people living in vulnerable conditions in La Paz and surrounding areas. Many of these children grow up in communities with limited access to quality education and basic services, and some are involved in informal work to support their families.
The organisation works not only with children, but also with their families and communities, recognising the importance of a holistic approach. In neighbourhoods where economic activities such as brick production are common, children often combine daily responsibilities with their participation in educational activities.
By working directly in community spaces, Sociedad San José is able to reach children in their own environments, offering them opportunities for learning, interaction, and personal development in a context that feels both familiar and accessible.

HOW THE FLAGBAG WILL BE USED
During the kick-off training week, the FlagBag was immediately applied in two field interventions. The first took place at the Centro Integral Alpacoma, where 105 children and young people participated in activities using the educational flags. A second session was organised at the community point “24 de Junio”, reaching 25 children.
In both locations, educators organised activities in groups adapted to different age ranges, creating a dynamic and inclusive learning environment. The sessions lasted around two hours and combined structured activities with moments of interaction, reflection, and shared experiences.
The response from participants was highly positive, with strong engagement and enthusiasm throughout the sessions. Educators demonstrated creativity and commitment in applying the methodology, which resulted in immediate impact and a clear motivation to continue using the FlagBag in their daily work.
LOOKING AHEAD
The introduction of the StreetSmart FlagBag in collaboration with Sociedad San José marks the beginning of a promising partnership. The strong engagement of the team and their openness to learning create a solid foundation for long-term impact.
In the coming months, the organisation aims to further structure the use of the FlagBag by integrating it into multiple community locations and increasing the number of interventions. The team has set clear objectives to apply the methodology regularly and continue building their skills through ongoing training and practice.
With its long-standing experience, strong community presence, and motivated team, Sociedad San José is well positioned to maximise the potential of the FlagBag. This collaboration is expected to strengthen educational outreach and create meaningful learning opportunities for children and young people in vulnerable situations.
